Tonight while getting food around 10pm a car came swerving around the corner while my the walk sign was on so when the car almost hit me. Naturalky, I yelled “Hey, slow down!” A black male rolled down his window and asked me if I wanted to get shot. I pointed to my head and said “Fine. Right here! You think your going to justify that with God? Do it! In the meantime, you slow down and don’t drink and drive.” He drove off.
I am not afraid of death and refuse to back down to those who threaten me. I thought to myself how this young black man and others like him make it that much harder for my cousin sitting upstairs and for my friends of color to shake perceptions of the angry black male, the shoplifter or how mixed race communities will lower property vales. You are not limited by your circumstances, but you can fall prey to arrogance and a sense of self-importance that will make you a statistic.
It also reinforces my push for having insurance and reinsurrance companies promote much higher insurance premiums unless you are driving in a Google car or other computerized vehicles or have smarter cities without cars. I know Americans are obsessed with their vehicles, but 94 people DIE every day from car accidents while 3.8 million are injured. More so than any gun law, I would advocate for less Death Weapons of Steel (cars) and smarter city design.
In the meantime, I hope Bill de Blasio and the New York City Council will look at the aggressive driver corridor between Brooklyn and Queens specifically Fresh Pond Road. We need tougher laws to limit driving in NYC.

Today’s the day. The day you help save the internet from being ruined.
Yes, you are, and we’re ready to help you.
(Long story short: The FCC is about to make a critical decision as to whether or not internet service providers have to treat all traffic equally. If they choose wrong, then the internet where anyone can start a website for any reason at all, the internet that’s been so momentous, funny, weird, and surprising—that internet could cease to exist. Here’s your chance to preserve a beautiful thing.)
Please take a moment and tell the FCC why slowing internet lanes will impact you.
Barbie’s Message To Young Girls
This Times Square advertisement near the W Hotel caught my eye on one of my many late night walks. Young ladies can be anything they want to be professionally. Dream, work hard and life can have very little limits – just obstacles that the tenacious will overcome.
